Massive PS Store Price Hikes Hit PS5 Games & Pre-Orders

Earlier, we reported that Death Stranding 2: On the Beach had its price increased on the PS Store following its release. The game is now priced at R$ 399.90 – the same as the Ghost of Yōtei pre-order on the PS Store, which will become Sony’s new pricing standard.

However, along with Death Stranding 2, numerous other games have received price adjustments, including titles released years ago for PS5.

See some examples below:

  • [PS Store BR] Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart – R$ 399.90
  • [PS Store BR] The Last of Us Part I – R$ 399.90
  • [PS Store BR] Demon’s Souls – R$ 399.90
  • [PS Store BR] ASTRO BOT – R$ 339.90

PS Store Also Adjusts Pre-order Prices

Not only released games but also several pre-orders have seen price changes. Some examples (check pre-order games in this section):

  • [PS Store BR] Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds – R$ 399.90
  • [PS Store BR] SILENT HILL f – R$ 399.90

Expected But Problematic

Unfortunately, considering Ghost of Yōtei signaled a price increase, it was expected that at least future titles would follow this trend. However, adjusting prices for older games and even ongoing pre-orders is especially problematic for players.

With this in mind, it’s worth highlighting the value of physical copies in this case, with many retailers offering promotions and significantly lower prices than digital (like Amazon).
