Publishers City Connection and Clear River Games, alongside developers G.rev and TAKE x OFF, have announced that Mamorukun ReCurse!, a remastered version of the vertical-scrolling shoot ’em up Mamorukun Curse!, will launch worldwide on September 25 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Switch, and PC via Steam.

Mamorukun ReCurse! is a modern remaster of the cult-classic shooter Mamorukun Curse!, originally developed by G.rev for Japanese arcades in 2008 and revitalized by TAKE x OFF, the team behind this year’s acclaimed Under Defeat release. This new version now supports widescreen formatting and introduces innovative modern dual analog controls alongside the original control scheme, letting players choose their preferred playstyle.
In this charming vertical-scrolling shoot ’em up, players use Cursed Bullets to fuel intense risk-reward gameplay that dynamically adjusts difficulty mid-session. Players can eliminate smaller foes and clear screen-filling projectiles or choose to empower larger enemies for tougher challenges. Stronger enemies yield higher scores, and players can even curse themselves to take extra damage.
Inspired by traditional Japanese mythology within a family-friendly package, Mamorukun ReCurse! casts players as Mamoru, who awakens in the Underworld after an untimely death. To prevent the Underworld from being consumed by darkness, Mamoru and a crew of new allies must seal the gateway to the Dark World.
Packed with content, Mamorukun ReCurse! features Story Mode, Arcade Mode, Challenge Tracks, alternate outfits, and a new Gallery Mode. The game also includes all previously released DLC characters, giving players ample reasons to dive back in.
