Cory Barlog of Santa Monica Studio, known for PlayStation classics like God of War 2 and the 2018 God of War reboot, is hard at work on the studio’s “next big hit.”
We’ve known for some time that the developer has been planning a new intellectual property (IP), as Barlog departed from directing duties on God of War: Ragnarok, passing the reins to Eric Williams.
But in a brief update from Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier, posted on the ResetEra forums (via Push Square), progress is going well on Santa Monica Studio’s new game:
“Cory Barlog’s game is Sony Santa Monica’s next big thing. Last time I spoke with someone about it (a month or two ago) it was going well.”
We assume this project has become the studio’s main focus since releasing God of War Ragnarok in 2022, so it could be officially revealed soon—assuming development is, as Schreier suggests, progressing well.
