After briefly commenting on the Santa Monica Studio project (which is “going well” in development), Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier shared further details on ResetEra.
According to Jason, the project isn’t a new intellectual property (IP) and isn’t science fiction (sci-fi) either:
I’ll put it this way: it’s not a new intellectual property, but it might look like one. Maybe that’s why people are confused. Please don’t ask me any more questions about this – if I end up revealing more information at some point in the future, it will be in an article, not on a forum.
And those science fiction rumors (which people apparently believed for years?) are nonsense.
With this in mind, it’s possible Santa Monica Studio is reviving a dormant Sony franchise, with the project differing so drastically from the original game that it resembles a “new IP”.
As always, we’ll have to wait and see what it’s all about.
