Ready or Not Devs Address Content Edits for PS5 and Xbox Release

VOID Interactive recently released Ready or Not for PS5 and Xbox Series, and it appears to have been a sales success. However, the PC version has been available since December 2023.

One controversy the console version caused was censorship that the developer implemented to release the game. They explained they had to make these changes due to compliance with rating boards worldwide. On the other hand, this is unusual since nudity, for example, exists in other games. Regardless, the decision sparked outrage within the PC community even before the title reached consoles.

VOID Interactive, however, detailed all alterations made to the game on Steam. You’ll notice most changes involve nudity or child-related objects like photos. The game’s themes remain serious, tackling topics such as pedophilia and sex trafficking.

VOID Interactive Clarifies Content Changes in Ready or Not

Recently, we communicated that the PC version of Ready or Not underwent minor content adjustments to ensure compliance and alignment with global platform policies and rating boards. These tweaks were implemented to facilitate a smooth global release across all platforms—while fully preserving the game’s tone, themes, and intensity.

Unfortunately, we’ve observed misconceptions and misinformation circulating regarding the scope of these changes. We want to ensure our entire community has full transparency about what changed—and what didn’t.

We’ve included before-and-after visuals showing that the game’s tone, atmosphere, and graphic impact remain intact. Blood and violence effects—essential to the game’s immersive realism—remain undiminished.

Missions like Elephant, Neon Tomb, and the infamous Valley of the Dolls remain unchanged.

VOID Interactive has always advocated for creative freedom and the right to craft boundary-pushing experiences in service of immersion and realism. This philosophy remains unchanged.

Simultaneously, we operate within a global ecosystem of platform standards, rating frameworks, and local legal restrictions. While we may disagree with certain content rulings, changes were made only where absolutely mandated by regulation—nothing more.

As a hyper-realistic tactical FPS, Ready or Not faces greater scrutiny than stylized or fictional games. This reflects publishing realities—not a shift in our creative vision or values.

Only six specific visual alterations were made to the PC version:

      • Twisted Nerve: The girl is now depicted sleeping instead of convulsing.

      • A Lethal Obsession: Nudity involving the ghillie suit suspect was adjusted.

      • Hide and Seek: Hostages now wear underwear.

      • Narcos: The police informant hostage now wears underwear.

      • 23 Megabytes per Second: The ‘Photo of Minors’ objective model was revised for better narrative cohesion with the later mission ‘Sinuous Trail’.

Note: Black boxes appear in ‘before’ images due to Steam Community Hub guidelines.
