DICE has stated that Battlefield 6 will use bots to fill empty slots in multiplayer lobbies.
Members of the game’s development team confirmed the use of bots during a multiplayer reveal event for Battlefield 6 in Hong Kong, which was attended by Taiwanese outlet Bahamut GNN (via VGC).
Development Director Anna Narrevi stated that DICE’s core game design principle is to allow as many players as possible to play together simultaneously.
However, bots will be deployed to populate servers during periods with insufficient real competitors, she added.
Elsewhere in the interview, Narrevi confirmed DICE is planning regular quarterly updates for the game and will consider adding more classic maps based on fan requests. Battlefield 6 will include nine maps at launch.
Battlefield 6 will release on October 10 for PS5, Xbox Series, and PC.
