Bloober Team, the studio known for the Silent Hill 2 remake, has unveiled a new Dev Diary episode for their upcoming survival horror, Cronos: The New Dawn. In the video, the developers dive into the game’s rich narrative, explaining humanity’s downfall and the true role of the Traveler. The team also reveals more details about the enigmatic Guardian.
Central to the plot is the mysterious Traveler—a pivotal figure for humanity’s fate. With the game’s release approaching, the development team shares deeper insights into its complex narrative through this new Dev Diary. Klaudia Sewera (Producer) and Grzegorz Like (Narrative Designer and Lead Writer) detail how souls are harvested, who must be chosen, and the Travelers’ true purpose. This isn’t just a horror tale—it’s a journey through time, identity, and the haunted remnants of a ruined world.
Featuring an original and powerful story, the game is set in Nowa Huta—a district of Krakow, Poland. It unfolds across two contrasting timelines: a post-apocalyptic future and the industrial reality of the 1980s. This unique setting blends gritty vintage realism, dystopian sci-fi, and a retrofuturistic atmosphere, creating an immersive world brimming with tension and mystery.
Additionally, players will encounter a new character: the Guardian. This enigmatic Traveler, voiced by Alan Turkington (Heartstopper; Baldur’s Gate III), possesses a presence and philosophy starkly contrasting the protagonist’s. He oversees critical tools and maintains the hub where players spend much of their time.
Cronos: The New Dawn releases on September 5, 2025, for PS5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, and PC.
