After five months of Early Access updates and gameplay tests, we’re thrilled to present the full launch of Midnight Murder Club.
I’m Eric Feurstein, Game Director of Midnight Murder Club at Velan Studios. First, I want to thank everyone who participated in all the open betas, playtests, and the Midnight Murder Club Early Access phase. Without you hunting each other in Wormwood Manor’s shadowy halls, we couldn’t have brought the game where it needed to be. And for those joining us for the first time: let me be the first to welcome you to Midnight Murder Club. Put on your masks, turn on your flashlights, grab your weapons, and invite your friends… The shadows are waiting.
You are cordially invited…
Midnight Murder Club is a pitch-black hide-and-seek shooter set in an ominous mansion. We aimed to create a first-person shooter that feels like a party game—one moment tense and terrifying, the next chaotic and hilarious.
When you’re alone in the dark, sound becomes everything. With our dynamic proximity chat, every whisper, scream, and footstep reveals both your enemy’s position and your own. While your flashlight provides crucial intel, it also paints a target on your back. Half the fun lies in that risk-reward calculation: do you light up hoping to catch someone off guard, or stay hidden hoping they reveal themselves first? Either way, when the gun smoke clears and bodies hit the floor, laughter fills the room as tension dissipates and players reappear in darkness, plotting their revenge.
Co-op PvE Mode: Graveyard Shift
With today’s launch, we proudly introduce a new game mode: Graveyard Shift. Graveyard Shift can be played solo or with a friend. You must scour the shadows for cursed Golden Relics hidden throughout the manor. Once found, rush them back to the Vault to purify their curse and earn a Blessing. Meanwhile, demons from the abyss will hunt you, trying to stop your mission.
Fend off demons like Flaming Skulls that soar through air before exploding, or Shadow Men who remain invisible except for their silhouettes, lurking behind doors to ambush you. Then there are Stalkers—armed with night vision, knives, and thirst for your blood.
Purify relics to gain rewards that push back the shadows. Tarry too long, and the manor grows more cursed, escalating your challenge. Scour the darkness, defeat the demons, and cleanse the manor’s cursed artifacts.
Scramble the Rules with Wildcards
Wildcards is a custom Midnight Murder Club game mode that lets you bend and break rules through pre-round card selections. With dozens of cards across fun Game Modes, weird Toys, helpful Blessings and punishing Curses, there are millions of wild combinations waiting to be tried.
For example, the “Trap Trouble” Wildcard fills the manor with bear traps that immobilize victims. “Falling Chandelier” lets you rig a ceiling fixture to crush anyone passing beneath. Active “Fire Trap” makes every death trigger a massive fireball, igniting nearby players for unpredictable chain reactions. “Shrink Shot” grants a second chance—when shot, you shrink to half-size with a comically squeaky voice.
Mixing and matching Wildcards lets you discover fresh, hilarious ways to play with friends.
Play With Friends: On the House
We built Midnight Murder Club for friends, and we know convincing groups to buy new games is tough. So we’re experimenting with the Guest Pass.
With the Guest Pass, only one player needs to own the game—others join the fun at no additional cost.
Players can download the free Midnight Murder Club Guest Edition on PlayStation 5 or Steam and join owners via invite or Lobby Code*. Play together indefinitely in any mode.
Welcome to the Club
Midnight Murder Club started as a strange idea I had almost exactly ten years ago. In 2015, I built a small prototype in my bedroom and emailed it to friends. I never knew what might become of it, but a decade later, I finally pitched it to Velan. It’s been incredible seeing more people recognize the potential in this “dark hide-and-shoot” concept.
In some ways, the game resembles that little prototype yet has evolved enormously thanks to Early Access feedback and all the playtesting. Few developers get to experience pitching a game concept, watching it grow, and playing it publicly like we have with Midnight Murder Club.
We built this game for you—we hope you enjoy it. We’ll see you in the shadows!
