Sony is reportedly planning to reduce storage in Digital Edition PS5 consoles in Europe.
Starting this month, the PS5 Digital Edition – which lacks a disc drive – will include 825GB of SSD storage compared to the 1TB in current PS5 consoles, according to leaker Billbil-kun (via VGC).
The revised 825GB PS5 Digital Edition will go on sale in Europe starting September 13. Crucially, it will carry the same price as the 1TB Digital Edition PS5: €499.
According to Billbil-kun, the standard disc-drive edition PS5 will retain its 1TB SSD storage capacity for now.
The storage reduction is likely intended as a measure to avoid further price hikes for the PS5 in the current challenging market environment.
