The developer of Hollow Knight: Silksong addressed the game’s brief appearance yesterday (8) during Microsoft’s Xbox Games Showcase 2025, where it was shown alongside the new ROG Ally X handheld.
During the event, Xbox President Sarah Bond stated that Silksong would be “available day one on Game Pass when Ally launches later this year”—leading many fans to believe the game was scheduled to launch specifically alongside the new hardware, which has a late 2025 release window.
But this isn’t the case, stated Team Cherry, Silksong’s developer. Writing on the game’s official Discord (via IGN), Team Cherry Marketing Manager Matthew “Leth” Griffin clarified that Silksong isn’t “waiting on the ROG Ally X” and that the game will arrive before year-end.
“BEFORE the end of the year is still locked in,” wrote Griffin, adding: “we’re not in lockstep with a console launch.” To directly address confusion when asked which holiday he referenced, Griffin stated: “Christmas, yeah.”
