Stellar Blade Sequel Narrative Will Be More Serious, Director Reveals

In an interview with This is Game, Stellar Blade director Kim Hyung Tae stated that the story felt a bit incomplete in the original game due to production constraints, but the narrative will be enhanced in the sequel.

“We had planned more story details, such as why EVE changes clothes,” Kim explained. However, cutscene costs became prohibitively high, forcing them to reduce non-essential scenes beyond the main plot to ensure timely completion.

The sequel’s storyline will adopt a more serious tone. The first game explored a familiar “AI vs. humanity” theme, according to the director.

The Stellar Blade director also expressed hope that the sequel will be released in 2027, though the project is currently in the Research and Development phase.

Kim revealed a planned DLC expanded beyond initial scope, prompting its integration into the sequel. Concurrently, the team prioritized the PC version, slowing sequel progress.

He emphasized focusing on genuine R&D and exploring “how to showcase next-generation vision.”

“A 2027 release would be ideal, but with only three years remaining, we’ll do our utmost. I can guarantee it will be an outstanding game,” Kim concluded.
