Hello everyone,

I’m Ham Yongjin, Executive Producer at XLGAMES, and I have some updates to share about ArcheAge Chronicles.

This project has been quietly growing in the background for some time, and today I want to share what we’re doing, why we’re doing it, and how it connects to everything we’ve loved (and maybe struggled with) about ArcheAge as a series over the years.

Why this game, and why now?

We didn’t just want to create a sequel. We didn’t want to reboot what came before. Instead, we saw an opportunity to tell a new story, set 50 years after the events of the original. Auroria, once wild and dangerous, is starting to come alive again. People are returning. Settlements are rising from the ruins. And you? You’re part of this first wave of brave souls returning.

So yes… this isn’t ArcheAge 2. It’s not a traditional MMORPG. What we’re creating is an online action RPG focused on discovery. Think intense combat, tighter pacing, and a shared social world—but not built for massive zerg fights or dozens of overlapping systems.

What makes it different?

Let’s talk combat first, as it’s been a major focus. We built the combat from scratch with mechanics centered on combos, dodging, and deeply satisfying weapon-specific abilities. It’s impactful. Responsive. And above all, it rewards smart play rather than just repeating ability rotations.

But Chronicles isn’t just about fighting. We’ve poured passion into exploration and storytelling. No glowing arrows dragging you toward objectives here. You’ll find forgotten temples, strange characters, ruins hiding secrets whispered by ancient gods. Some discoveries will be accidental. That’s the point. We want you to explore and uncover secrets along the way.

Yes, the world is shared with others—but more intimate. Smaller groups. Meaningful cooperation. Moments feeling personal, not chaotic or dominated by zergs.

Carrying the Legacy Forward

We’ve learned from ArcheAge—its highs and lows. Our goal isn’t to copy what worked. It’s taking that spirit (freedom, discovery, ambition) and applying it in fresh, exciting ways. This isn’t about surpassing the past. It’s about evolving.

So expect life skills, housing, and crafting to return—only… better. Shared housing areas. Decorations you can actually interact with. NPCs that feel like housemates, not props. Crafting tied to your character’s progression and the player economy.

What’s next?

We’ve had small focus groups testing early builds (under NDA for now), and the feedback has been incredibly helpful and encouraging. We’ll expand these tests soon, so stay tuned if you want to participate, as we’ll open surveys to more players.

We’ll have much more to share in the coming weeks and months. For now, thank you for your patience, your ArcheAge memories, and your curiosity about what’s ahead.

Follow us on Archeage Chronicles X, wishlist us on Steam, and subscribe to our YouTube channel. There’s so much more to show you. And honestly? I can’t wait to see you in Auroria.

See you soon,
