The development team shared new details about the connection between Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator and Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & the White Guardian. As both titles are collectively considered “A25” within the Atelier franchise, the upcoming title is a completely new entry in the series, not a spin-off or port. Though both titles share the same universe and timeline, the upcoming Atelier Resleriana takes place after the defeat of the Weltex and introduces players to a new story running parallel to Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemist and the Polar Night Liberator. Players will follow the adventures of Rias Eidreise and Slade Clauslyter as they explore the continent of Lantarna.

During their journey, they’ll encounter both new and familiar characters from previous Atelier titles, including fan-favorite alchemist Ryza and her friend Klaudia from the “Secret” series, plus Ayesha Altugle from the “Dusk” series. These characters will interact with Rias and Slade while supporting story progression. The two main protagonists will engage in turn-based battles against various foes, influencing action turn order to maximize their party members’ abilities. Players can activate “Multiple Actions” with support characters, enabling up to three consecutive actions. During multi-skill attacks, players can use items—chaining two or more items in sequence triggers an “Item Mix” that adds extra effects, allowing unique item combinations.

Attacking foes also fills the “Units Gauge,” granting varying effects based on available “units.” For instance, with two or more units filled, a special “Unit Attack” automatically triggers when two front-row characters act consecutively. Once the Units Gauge becomes full, players can expend five units to trigger a “Unit Burst,” granting all front-row characters consecutive turns. While the Units Gauge depletes with unit-consuming actions, “Unit Attacks” become significantly strengthened, enabling massive damage against enemies!

In Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & the White Guardian, players synthesize items by connecting the “Gift Colors” of selected ingredients, adding traits to the final item. Specific “Catalyst Ingredients” even enable special item synthesis. For example, the “Altus” catalyst ingredient lets players determine the next ingredient’s gift colors, while the “Rainbow Stone” catalyst changes the next ingredient slot’s preset category. Adding certain ingredients triggers a “Recipe Change,” altering the synthesized recipe to create new items. Cooperating with up to three other party members or spirits during synthesis creates items with even more powerful effects!

While exploring Lantarna, heroes will venture into “Dimensional Paths”—dungeons with randomly changing layouts on each visit. Fans can select dungeon difficulties, altering encountered enemies, ingredient types, and gathering locations. Higher difficulties yield more valuable ingredients and rewards. Spirits may also appear, gifting players useful items and offering recruitment for the “Visco Sundries” shop to help sell synthesized goods.

Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & the White Guardian takes players on a cozy, mysterious adventure alongside new protagonists Rias Eidreise—an adventurer with alchemy talents—and Slade Clauslyter—a youth who can open passages to alternate dimensions. These heroes unite to uncover why Hallfein’s inhabitants vanished while tracing their loved ones’ footsteps to restore their hometown. Throughout their journey, they’ll encounter allies both new and familiar from the Atelier series, including Sophie Nuenmuller, Razeluxe Meitzen, Totori Helmold, and Wilbell Voll-Ersleid.

Set within the Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator universe, this new Atelier title transports players to Lantarna continent for gathering synthesis ingredients and uncovering secrets whether day or night, rain or shine. Players also explore tiered dungeons called “Dimensional Paths,” featuring randomly generated layouts that reset on each visit. This system enables collecting different ingredients and facing new enemies depending on the chosen difficulty level.

Combat in Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & the White Guardian combines turn-based strategy with timeline command battles, letting players deploy six-character teams (three frontline, three backline). Using AP and equipped items tactically influences turn order, enabling ally chain actions and activating powerful combination attacks.

Using materials gathered during exploration or battles, Rias performs synthesis via “Gift Color Synthesis.” This process requires connecting ingredient “Gift Colors” to create new items. Players may assign traits or alter recipes based on ingredients used. Designated characters assisting Rias further enhance created items.

Alongside Atelier’s trademark exploration-combat-synthesis cycle, players sell items at Rias’ shop to develop the city. Selling synthesized goods generates funds to invest in Hallfein’s growth—unlocking new recipes and advancing the main story.

Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & the White Guardian launches worldwide for PlayStation 5, Switch, and PC via Steam on September 26. The PlayStation 4 version will be Japan-exclusive (Western release canceled).
