Elden Ring Nightreign may soon receive a new ranked mode.

Reddit dataminers (via GameSpot and PC Gamer) who combed through the latest Nightreign update files discovered what appears to be a new mode potentially coming to the game. Called ‘Deep of Night’, it seems to be a kind of ranked mode where victory can increase a player’s rank, unlocking more challenging Depths in the process.

“Victory will increase your rank, enhancing your Depth,” says a description of the mode extracted from data. “The darkness stretches on infinitely.”

Based on datamined screenshots, there appear to be five levels, or Depths, for players to reach, with a skill-based matchmaking system that will group players of similar rank. Each Depth will be progressively harder, and while players might lose rank in failed matches, losing will seemingly never drop them back to a previous Depth.

“If you keep losing rank, your Depth will be reduced, but after reaching Depth 2, you will not be able to return to Depth 1,” states the datamined mode description.

In terms of gameplay changes, Deep of Night seemingly introduces new “magmafied” enemy forms for players to face, and weapons found in the mode will come with debuffs and buffs. Players will also apparently gain three additional relic slots where “Depth Relics” can be equipped, which will only function in this mode.

We wait for an official announcement from Bandai Namco. Check out all the datamined images in this Reddit post.
