HoYoverse announced today that Version 5.7 of Genshin Impact, dubbed “Your Place in Spacetime,” will launch on June 18. A key highlight is the new character Skirk – a powerful, enigmatic figure with strong ties to the Abyss who fights in two distinct combat styles. As this formidable ally joins the adventure, new conflicts arise among the siblings, with encroaching darkness looming larger than ever in the new Archon Quest. A new power is emerging, and the Travelers’ tale is about to enter a crucial new phase.
Version 5.7 will mark Skirk’s long-awaited debut as a playable character, known as Childe’s enigmatic master and an apprentice trained by Surtalogi the Abominable Knight ─ one of Khaenri’ah’s Five Sinners. Wielding an Abyssal power disguised as Cryo, this 5-star character toggles between two combat modes: a sustained assault focused on enhanced Normal Attacks, or a decisive burst dealing powerful AoE Cryo DMG. Both modes utilize Serpent’s Subtlety ─ a unique resource generated through her abilities and talents ─ instead of Elemental Energy. Skirk also provides valuable synergy for Hydro/Cryo-only teams (with at least one of each element), granting an extra level to their Elemental Skills and substantial personal DMG amplification.
Another addition is Dahlia, a new 4-star Hydro support and deacon of the Favonius Church. He offers versatile support through a renewable shield generated by his Burst, repeatedly triggered by Normal Attacks or Freeze reactions. Additionally, he boosts team ATK SPD via his Talent and can either lift teammates or deal Hydro DMG to enemies with his Elemental Skill. Version 5.7’s Wish Events will feature Skirk, Dahlia, and Shenhe’s rerun in the first half, followed by Pyro Archon Mavuika and Emilie in the latter half.
Following the “Slumbering Lore” questline, the Archon Quest continues unraveling the Traveler and sibling’s story. This new chapter sees the Abyss Order mobilizing in Natlan as part of the sibling’s grand design. Natlan’s defenders – including Mavuika and allies – remain on high alert, while Dainsleif joins the Traveler on the frontlines in an unprecedented way. As the journey delves deeper into the Abyss Order’s domain, the Travelers will uncover long-buried truths about the sibling’s plan.
Version 5.7 introduces a new Sumeru Academy simulated adventure blending tactical team-building with RNG elements. Travelers assemble their party by acquiring Companion Pieces, strengthen these units, then navigate either tropical rainforest or desert routes ─ each offering unique challenges, narratives, and surprise encounters. During pre-event research phases, players guide Paimon to harvest fruit for bonus rewards. Event completion grants Primogems and Sethos as a recruitable character.
A permanent combat mode called “Abyssal Confrontation” also arrives. Featuring 3 rotating bosses per update and scaling difficulty across 6 tiers, clearing challenges rewards Artifacts and “Illumination Powder” – a new item allowing secondary stat rerolls on Level 20 Artifacts.
Meanwhile, “Tales of Travels: Overflow Chapter” shares lighthearted Teyvat stories. Thoma returns to Mondstadt, Neuvillette visits Murusmere Village, and Dori bargains with Sayu in Inazuma – offering relaxed respites between adventures.
Version 5.7 also delivers optimizations: Mobile players gain customizable asset management presets, Fragile Resin can now be spent directly for triple rewards from Ley Line Blossoms and Talent/Artifact Domains, and new Trial Events for Raiden Shogun and Shenhe will be added.
Genshin Impact Version 5.7 launches June 18, featuring the long-awaited developments in Skirk’s story and the Traveler twins’ saga.
