Flins

“Mr. Flins lives in a lighthouse, far away from here. They say he’s extremely proactive and a skillful strategist… or so Starshyna claims? Sadly, I can’t confirm—I joined the group late and never worked directly with him. All I know comes from him… Want my opinion? Well… he seems to be a man of many stories. Isn’t it odd for a warrior to have such refined posture? Not to mention how he uses eloquence to get what he wants…”

— Illuga

During harvest festivities, no visitor is too strange to appear. As the sun drenched the market in its heat, a particular gentleman arrived and was quickly drawn into animated conversations by curious locals.

The gentleman introduced himself: Flins, a warrior of the Ratniki. He received a Civil Medal for his squadron’s efforts against Abyssal creatures. The incident happened long ago. Though no one organized this tribute, the townspeople silently agreed to express gratitude this way. The medal was heavy, handed over in a time-worn box.

Given that operation’s casualties, Flins believed ten more medals wouldn’t justify the cost. His team once numbered seven or eight, but now he stood alone at the lighthouse, watching over the cemetery.

The crowd fell silent. They thought of many things: Fierce Hunts, monsters… other sorrows. Grief left them speechless. Though some had questions, Flins offered no answers. His bowed head suggested reflection on the past.

Compared to other Ratniki, Flins spoke with elegant refinement. He dismissed queries about his origins or potential siblings, preferring distant subjects—always precise as a storyteller who never exaggerates. Through his words, the past made listeners think: “My, what an unforgettable tale.”

Much of his audience lacked life experience, listening out of sheer curiosity—a demand Flins, by chance or calculation, met perfectly. He always chose stories tailor-made for public retelling.
