Arc System Works published the 18th Developer’s Backyard, outlining the remaining content for Season 4 of Guilty Gear Strive, including the Ranked Match mode and more.
Producer Miyauchi began the post by apologizing for the recent data breach affecting the game’s network features. In response, the team has strengthened security, including measures against specific mods that pose security risks.
The next major update is scheduled for August, with the exact date to be announced at EVO in Las Vegas from August 1-3.
Key additions coming next month include: Lucy, a guest character from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners; Ranked Match mode; battle balance adjustments; and reworks to the existing Tower system.
The Ranked Match mode starts with 10 placement matches per character, determining individual rankings per fighter. Veteran players will retain a minimum baseline based on their highest-ranked character.
Meanwhile, the Rank Tower is being renamed to Duel Tower and will serve as a more casual introduction to online play. It includes protections like demotion buffers for specific in-game actions and will now feature an adjusted top floor (Floor 11), replacing the Celestial Floor system.
The previous Celestial Challenge is being discontinued, and all current Celestial players will be rehomed to Floor 10 after the update. Monthly Celestial rankings and rewards will continue, but only players who raise their assigned floor back to Floor 11 will be eligible.
