Arc System Works has released a new video explaining the gameplay of the character Lucy from Cyberpunk: Mercenaries in Guilty Gear Strive.
The video begins by explaining that Lucy possesses a particularly strong neutral game due to her long-range attacks and high mobility. She also features a unique ability to afflict opponents with debuffs based on Cyberpunk 2077 abilities.
Lucy’s “Monowire” serves as her signature weapon, effectively establishing her as the whip character archetype commonly seen in fighting games. Some of her attacks inflict heavy pushback when blocked, while others pull opponents closer to her.
By spending resources, Lucy can apply debuffs that negatively impact opponents’ performance during gameplay. This mechanic enables her to inflict damage over time, restore her own health through successful hits, guarantee counter-hits during openings, gain extra R.I.S.C. meter when attacks are blocked, reduce opponents’ Tension Gauge generation, and even obscure herself (making mix-ups harder to read).
She additionally features a unique mechanic that upgrades her Overdrive to a more powerful version when the extra damage would be enough to KO her opponent.
Lucy will launch as DLC on August 21. Guilty Gear Strive is available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC via Steam.
