Massive PS6 and PlayStation Handheld Rumors Reveal Shocking Specs

It’s common as we approach the second half of a console generation for rumors about future successors to emerge. While the PS5 appears to have several good years ahead of it, the first details about its successor are starting to surface more concretely.

The YouTube channel focused on PC and console hardware, Moore’s Law Is Dead, published what are claimed to be the first technical details about the PS6 and a possible new handheld from Sony. Despite a certain track record with hardware information, the console’s launch, and even its production, is still far off, and much could change regarding what was reported by the channel.

  • SoC architecture design based on NAVI 5 technology.
  • Backward compatibility with PS4 and PS5.
  • Strong focus on cost reduction and low power consumption.
  • Production start planned for mid-2027, with a launch targeting late 2027 or early 2028.
  • 160W power draw.
  • 8-core CPU based on Zen 6 or later architecture.
  • 3nm SoC, on par with the one used in the handheld console.
  • GPU with 40-48 RDNA 5 compute units running at 3GHz or higher speeds.
  • 160 or 192-bit RAM memory bus with GDDR7 faster than 32GT/s.
  • Initial average performance target exceeding 3x that of the PS5, with enhanced Ray Tracing.

Meanwhile, the handheld device, tentatively named PS6 Canis, has the following initial specifications.

  • Features a confirmed 3nm SoC architecture, verified by the channel through current documents.
  • Backward compatible with PS4 and PS5.
  • Includes a MicroSD card slot, M.2 SSD slot, haptic feedback, dual microphones, and a touch screen.
  • USB-C port may support video output capability.
  • Production start planned for mid-2027, with a launch targeting late 2027 or early 2028.
  • 15W power draw.
  • 4-core CPU based on Zen 6c architecture.
  • GPU with 12-20 RDNA 5 compute units running at 1.6-2GHz speeds.
  • 128-bit RAM memory bus with LPDDR5X-7500+.
  • Initial average performance target would be close to half the power of the current PS5, but with Ray Tracing capability surpassing the current PS5.
  • Canis would be more powerful than the XBOX Ally X in performance, but not defined as high-performance due to being portable.

As an official confirmation on all information leaked by the channel is highly unlikely for now, consider this information a rumor and subject to change in the future, at least until console production begins and more leaks emerge.
