Massive Rumor: Brazilian Teams Returning to EA Sports FC 26 on PS5

As the lifecycle of EA Sports FC 25 draws to a close, rumors surrounding the franchise’s next release – EA Sports FC 26 – are gaining momentum. This time, one of the community’s most anticipated developments in recent years appears closer to becoming reality, bringing great news for Brazilian players.

According to insider FGZ, one of X/Twitter’s most popular accounts covering EA FC, the EA Sports soccer game will feature fully licensed Brazilian teams for the first time since FIFA 21. The teaser came as a post asking “Is Brazil ready?”, accompanied by an image featuring crests of 12 teams from Liga Forte União (LFU), one of two club associations primarily focused on joint broadcasting and image rights negotiations.

The image showcases Série A clubs Botafogo, Corinthians, Cruzeiro, Fortaleza, Fluminense, Internacional, Juventude and Vasco da Gama, plus Série B clubs Atlético Goianiense, Athletico Paranaense, Criciúma, and Cuiabá – suggesting limited club representation in EA Sports FC 26.

Note that LFU includes three additional Série A teams (Ceará, Mirassol, Sport) and twelve more in Série B (América-MG, Athletic, Avaí, Botafogo-SP, Chapecoense, Coritiba, CRB, Goiás, Novorizontino, Operário-PR, Vila Nova). If the contract is exclusively with LFU, these clubs may also feature.

However, a Saturday report from sports analytics account DataFut suggests negotiations extend beyond LFU. Their sources indicate EA has verbal agreements with LIBRA (Brazilian Football League, including Série A clubs Flamengo, Palmeiras, São Paulo, Grêmio, Santos, Atlético-MG, Bahia, Vitória, RB Bragantino) and the CBF – though signed contracts remain pending. According to DataFut, there’s a “real and significant” chance both top divisions will return to the game. CBF involvement implies the Brazilian national team would also feature.

FGZ claims “only some teams” will feature, though they attribute this to outside sources. DataFut also referenced former series director Claudio Vicente’s tweet: “how beautiful #FC26 is going to be” followed by Brazilian, Chilean, Argentine and Mexican flags, fueling rumors about Liga MX’s inclusion.

While Brazilian clubs were technically represented via CONMEBOL Libertadores and Sudamericana licenses, players featured only generic names. Official licensing would introduce real player names. Until official confirmation, treat all reports as rumors.
