Insider Dusk Golem, who has proven reliable regarding Resident Evil leaks, commented on some details of Resident Evil Requiem.
In a series of posts, Dusk Golem stated that new lighting and shadow engines have been implemented, that the AI system is unique and intelligent, and that some open areas in Raccoon City will require a vehicle to traverse. Additionally, combat would be similar to The Last of Us Part 2.
See what he said:
Currently, they’ve officially talked about, as you mentioned, the ability to switch between first and third person instantly (and basically building two different games side-by-side to achieve this since it required a massive overhaul to work with both), the new lighting/shadow engine, and Pragmata’s hair engine.
Also, we know the stalker uses a new dynamic AI system they built to behave uniquely and intelligently on the fly. There are other innovations, some I know, but I’m also certain I don’t know them all.
A detail I don’t mind sharing is they’ve worked hard to achieve good performance in open-level areas like Raccoon City, including a vehicle to get around there. Leon’s combat saw major innovations, honestly, some in the style of The Last of Us Part 2, but also its own unique innovations.
There was an effort to provide more environmental physics systems and interactivity for Grace’s segments, where she must work more with the environment and balance light and darkness. I won’t say more, and certainly don’t know everything. But they have much more to reveal.
Possibly some of these new features (like even Leon being playable) will be shown next week during Gamescom 2025’s Opening Night Live, where it’s been officially confirmed we’ll get a new trailer for the game.
Resident Evil Requiem launches on February 27, 2026, for PS5, Xbox Series, and PC.
