Publisher Nexon and developer Neople have announced that The First Berserker: Khazan is getting a new update soon with various new features.
Check out the full announcement made on Steam below:
Hello, Berserkers!
This is Junho Lee, Creative Director of First Berserker: Khazan.
Around this time last year, I recall thinking: “By next spring, Khazan will be available…”
Now, summer has already arrived here in Korea. It’s been three months since launch – almost 100 days.
It hasn’t been an easy journey, but thanks to your support and enthusiasm, Khazan has achieved great results so far. I’m deeply grateful.
Now, I can finally reveal a spoiler I’ve been holding onto!
We’re preparing a special gift as thanks to everyone who’s played the game since launch.
We’ll share more details in a separate announcement soon, so stay tuned.
Now, let’s dive into the next update!
Gameplay Experience Improvements
We’re finally adding some long-requested features!
-
-
- Added Skill Preset system
- Added Equipment Preset system
- Added inventory sorting by name
- Increased storage capacity from 100 to 500 slots
-
We’re also updating main mission boss drop rates for set item crafting materials to 100%, alongside increasing Wisdom Enhancement drop rates.
Combo Tutorial Added
Learning various skill combos has been made easier.
You’ll now find a new “Combos” tab in the Encyclopedia with basic combo guides for each tier of the skill tree. Try checking combo information and practicing directly in-game.
Difficulty System Improvements
Major changes are coming to the difficulty system.
Current “Easy” difficulty will be renamed to “Normal”, which will become the default setting for new games. Current “Normal” difficulty will be renamed to “Challenge”.
A new “Beginner” difficulty is being added.
This new setting includes additional conveniences to help action game newcomers learn Khazan’s combat system comfortably with less stress.
If difficulty feels too low, you may switch to “Normal” or “Challenge” anytime.
For those seeking genuine challenge, we’re adding a new “Hardcore” difficulty.
“Hardcore” is a special difficulty unlocked after completing first playthrough on “Challenge”.
It can be started as a New Game and difficulty cannot be changed mid-playthrough.
As the toughest difficulty, Hardcore mode hides enemy HP and Stamina bars. Support systems like Defense Spirit, Phantom Form, and Attribute Shift are also disabled.
Hardcore mode also features unique balance settings and a locked camera perspective, offering a new intense way to experience Khazan.
Online Demo Temporarily Suspended
Following continuous post-launch updates and the major difficulty overhaul in this patch, the gameplay experience between the demo and full game has become significantly different.
Therefore, we’ve decided to suspend demo access temporarily and will reevaluate future plans before providing an update.
We appreciate your understanding as we work to deliver a more consistent experience across all aspects.

About Our Patch Philosophy
We’ve consistently worked to improve the game by actively listening to your feedback before and after Khazan’s launch.
We believe game design isn’t immutable – it’s something we shape and refine together with our players.
That’s why the key question we ask when reviewing feedback is: “Does this expand Khazan’s gameplay experience?”
Our goal isn’t just removing inconveniences, but helping players better understand and enjoy the game.
For example, the previous balance patch included a nerf to the spear build “Trance”.
While this may be less fun for existing players, we made this decision because we believe it’s more important to provide newcomers an environment where they can explore diverse playstyles and carve their own paths.
Pre-patch, the “Trance Spam” build was widely considered the only viable option, while other styles were seen as inefficient or not worth using. This contradicted our intent for players to better understand the game, discover diverse strategies, and develop personalized playstyles.
Our approach prioritizes supporting diverse playstyles and achieving game balance by enhancing underused skills/builds rather than weakening strong ones.
However, in “Trance”‘s case, the performance gap compared to other weapons/skills was simply too vast, making a nerf unavoidable.
We know no balance update can be perfect. Still, we did our utmost to find the most reasonable middle ground.
Following this update, we’ll continue collecting feedback to craft a gameplay experience satisfying as many players as possible.
We’re profoundly grateful for your ongoing support, patience, and willingness to share ideas – even when an update’s direction differed from expectations.
We’re especially attentive to balance feedback. Every comment is thoroughly reviewed, and we closely monitor gameplay data to track trends and identify where future adjustments may be needed.
We’ll continue striving to make this game even better.
We sincerely thank you for your unwavering love and support for Khazan.
Best regards, Junho Lee
