Om za gleb! Look, up in the sky. Is it a bird? No, it’s a plane. No! It’s a flock of Fairies!
The Fairies have landed in The Sims 4, and we’re absolutely shimmering with excitement. From early development stages to their arrival in Innisgreen, creating these Fairies has been pure delight.
We spent extensive time envisioning the Fairies’ enchanting lore, a long-requested community feature, focusing on their storytelling, visuals, traits, and vast customizable options. Our goal was perfection in letting you create unique Fairies. We’re thrilled to share our journey developing the Enchanted by Nature Expansion Pack. We’ve even included tips and tricks to make your Fairy gameplay truly magical!
Mother Nature’s Cozy Welcome
To embark on a fairy journey, Sims must first seek Mother Nature’s aid. This powerful being shares an unbreakable bond with Fairies, granting them magical abilities through Moon Drop Spring Water. But the adventure only begins there.
These Fairies differ significantly from The Sims 3 counterparts, evident in their unprecedented Skill options focusing on nature, emotions, and even manipulation. Unlike The Sims 3, Fairies in The Sims 4 aren’t merely trickster masters—they feature a new unique need called Emotional Strength. This can be gained through bottled emotion potions or absorbing other Sims’ emotions. For instance, a Fairy could manipulate a Sim’s emotion, bottle it, and save it for la
ter use.
This leads to two distinct Fairy Tales Aspirations, allowing them to radiate in different ways. The Harmonious Fairy path suits charitable souls who cultivate dream gardens and awaken Gnomes for chores, while the Discordant Fairy path is for playful tricksters who spread mischief by manipulating moods and causing quirky Ailments.
Non-Fairy Sims can also access Fairy Dust for daily fun—enchant plants for self-tending or awaken Gn
omes for household tasks.
Home, Sweet, Magical Home
After Fairies settle in Innisgreen to sow wonder or cultivate chaos, they’ll need a home to rest their wings. You might recall from The Sims 3 how Fairies became glowing orbs to enter tiny abodes. We wanted to enhance this aspect—like we did throughout their existence in Enchanted by Nature. Fairies now shrink to access Fairy Houses while retaining their miniature forms!
Spread Your Wings!
Fairies offer extensive customization, from ear shapes to skin tones, but wings were a key feature we aimed to enhance.
In The Sims 3, Fairy wings were visual effects that opened/closed rhythmically—disconnected from body movements—and often clipped through objects. For The Sims 4, we developed fully animated wings reflecting gameplay and persona, resulting in:
- More realistic wing movement synced to Fairies’ body motions
- Better body-w
ing coordination during locomotion, with distinct hovering, flying, and gliding animations - Support for unique movement styles (e.g., sad/angry hovering, pregnancy animations)
- Emotional connections (e.g., frantic fluttering during death!)
- Unique wing motions for archetypes—butterflies=elegant glides, dragonflies=rapid beats
Not only that! Fairy wings come in vast shapes, sizes, and colors—from exuberant iridescent expanses to energetic small/transparent pairs.
Additional Fairy customizations include:
- 9 new skin hues
- 18 new eye colors
- 3 new pointed ear shapes
- 3 new fantastical nose types
- 2 new tooth types
- Glowing tattoos that illuminate at night
- Face paint and accessories
Fairies radiate enchanted power, but for Simmers, true magic lies in creation.
Create a Sim Additions
Wait—there’s more! Our team is thrilled to unveil Create a Sim’s new features for Fairy and non-Fairy Sims.
The new “Head Decor” category under Hats offers fun head accessories like horns, antlers, bandanas, plus a leafy circlet and flower crown inspired by Fa
iry/nature gameplay. Like Hats, Head Decor pairs with any hairstyle, and colors are independent of hair color.
Additionally, Skin Shine in Accessories › Skin Effects adds facial/body glow. Fully customizable, it complements all skin tones and creates unique looks for different outfits.
The Sims 4 Enchanted by Nature Expansion Pack is available on EA app, Epic Games S
tore, Steam, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
