Professor Layton and the Curious Village Remake Announced for 2027, PS5 Version Reportedly Included

Professor Layton and the Curious Village is returning in a new remake planned for 2027. LEVEL-5 has revealed the project through its official materials, while a report from Gematsu says the game could launch on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam.

The remake revisits Layton and Luke’s first adventure, which originally debuted on Nintendo DS in February 2007. The story follows the professor and his apprentice as they investigate St. Mystere, a remote settlement hiding the Golden Apple identified in a wealthy baron’s will. According to the official remake website, the new version will feature characters reimagined in 3D, more immersive exploration, and high-resolution widescreen animations. Those officially listed changes indicate that the remake will update the original puzzle adventure’s presentation and exploration.

LEVEL-5’s English website lists a worldwide release planned for 2027, while the Japanese version specifies spring 2027. The relationship between those two windows has not been explained, and there is no exact release date yet.

The official teaser also warns that its game footage is still in development and may differ from the final version. No PlayStation announcement, PlayStation Store page, price, pre-order information or confirmed PS5-specific technical details were located during verification. As a result, the reported PS5 release remains attributed to Gematsu until LEVEL-5 or PlayStation publishes an explicit platform confirmation.
