Among Us Adds Two Epic New Roles: Detective & Viper

Innersloth has announced that Among Us has received two new roles: Detective and Viper.

Check out the description and trailer for both below. For full details on the 17.0.0 update, visit the official site.

Detective

Some of you are real detectives, and now you can live up to the title by playing the new Detective role! This is our first role with two distinct abilities. Here’s how to use them:

      • Notes: Note the location of a dead crew member, your suspect list, and what kind of Impostor you’re looking for.
      • Interrogate: Start questioning your fellow crewmates and find out where they were during the crime!
        • You can only use the ability on one active case at a time! You’ll need to swap files if you’re researching multiple murders .
        • You can adjust how many interrogations a detective can perform via the advanced role settings in the Dropship.

When designing this role, we really wanted to make Emergency Meeting discussions even more exciting!

But beware! As you start piecing clues together, you might become the Impostor’s next target. Don’t forget your notepad and magnifying glass—you’ll need them!

Viper

This new Impostor role is perfect for destruction—or in this case, dissolving your victims. Trigger a Sabotage at just the right moment to distract the crew while using your Acid ability to watch their body slowly dissolve. Here’s how it works:

      • After a kill, the Crewmate’s corpse decomposes in 3 stages: slightly dissolved, heavily dissolved, then reduced to bones before disappearing entirely.
      • You can adjust decomposition speed in the advanced role settings aboard the Dropship.

Before long, the body vanishes—leaving only your alibi to worry about. Execute it perfectly, and you’ll achieve every Impostor’s ultimate dream: a kill without evidence. Who would call an Emergency Meeting with no corpse, right?

If you’re on the receiving end of the Viper’s acid spit, well… it’s game over. But at least you get a snazzy new death animation before your body starts fizzing away.

We had a blast testing these roles and can’t wait to see your strategies—whether you’ll become the Skeld’s greatest sleuth or just enjoy spitting on Crewmates (kinda gross, ngl), it’s gonna be chaotic fun.
