Hamster Corporation has announced that the next release for the Arcade Archives 2 line will be Aqua Jet.
Like the previous games – Ridge Racer and Air Combat 22 – Aqua Jet is a title that utilizes Namco’s System 22 arcade hardware.
Released in 1996, Aqua Jet is a jet ski racing game. The original arcade version featured a large physical jet ski that players could shift positions on, complete with a blast of cold air to the face to simulate speed.
Aqua Jet launches this Thursday, August 14th, for PS5, Xbox Series, and Switch 2 as part of the Arcade Archives 2 line. A version for PS4 and Switch from the Arcade Archives series will also be available.
Both Arcade Archives editions feature Original Mode, High Score Mode (where you play until failing), and Caravan Mode (score as high as possible within a time limit), all supporting online leaderboards.
The Arcade Archives 2 versions also include Time Attack Mode (finish the full game fastest) and Network Mode (online play) when multiplayer is available. Players choosing Arcade Archives 2 will gain multiple save slots, a rewind feature, and VRR support for a “more precise reproduction of the original arcade gaming experience.”
