Arcade Archives 2 Ridge Racer, from Hamster’s new Arcade Archives 2 re-release series, is now available for PS5. Arcade Archives Ridge Racer also launched previously for PS4.
Notably, Arcade Archives 2 Ridge Racer includes a Platinum trophy on PS5. The series’ previous release, ACA2 NEOGEO The King of Fighters ’98, also featured the trophy (see trophy list).
Unfortunately, the PS4 version lacks a Platinum trophy, following a list similar to other games in the Arcade Archives series.

“RIDGE RACER” is a racing game released by NAMCO (Bandai Namco Entertainment) in 1993.
Experience the essence of virtual reality using the “System 22” 3D computer graphics system.
This game features four selectable modes, including three difficulty levels – NOVICE, INTERMEDIATE, and ADVANCED – plus T.T. (TIME TRIAL), where players compete one-on-one against a rival car for the best time. A DX version supporting H-shifter and clutch hardware is also included.
The “Arcade Archives” series began in May 2014 with the concept of faithfully recreating classic arcade games. With “RIDGE RACER,” the series introduces “Arcade Archives 2,” featuring a completely redesigned user interface.
Besides “ORIGINAL MODE,” “HIGH SCORE MODE,” and “CARAVAN MODE” from the original Arcade Archives series, “Arcade Archives 2” adds new features like “TIME ATTACK MODE” and “NETWORK MODE.” In “TIME ATTACK MODE,” players compete to defeat the final boss in the fastest time, starting from the first race. This mode focuses on completion speed regardless of score. “NETWORK MODE” allows matches against other players online. Note that “TIME ATTACK MODE” and “NETWORK MODE” may not be implemented in all titles – since RIDGE RACER is single-player, “NETWORK MODE” was excluded.
Additionally, functionality has been significantly enhanced: multiple save slots replace single-slot saving, alongside rewind functionality for reattempting sections and quick-start options for immediate play. VRR support has also been added for precise recreation of the original arcade experience.
