Assassin’s Creed Shadows Claws of Awaji DLC Launches September 16 With New Bo Staff

The Claws of Awaji expansion for Assassin’s Creed Shadows is approaching! Check out all the information below about what’s to come and how to embark on the next chapter of Naoe and Yasuke’s journey.

The Claws of Awaji expansion launches on September 16 at 9 AM (BRT).

For those who didn’t pre-order, the expansion will be available for purchase across all platforms for €25/$25 on September 16.

PART 1: WHERE/HOW TO ACCESS THE EXPANSION

Warning: mild spoilers for the base game of Assassin’s Creed Shadows below.

Accessing The Claws of Awaji expansion requires completing Naoe and Yasuke’s main story arcs. You must also finish the “Emerging from the Shadows” quest, available after completing Naoe, Yasuke, and Junjiro’s personal missions.

Afterward, simply track down Hanzo’s contact at the Settu Hideout and embark on the new journey to the mysterious Awaji island.

PART 2: NEW CONTENT AVAILABLE WITH THE EXPANSION

On September 16, a new free quest will unlock for everyone to introduce the bo staff! After completing the quest to unlock the weapon and training Naoe in its use, you’ll add the bo to her arsenal. Note that bo staffs granted as random rewards throughout Japan are exclusive to The Claws of Awaji expansion owners. We hope you enjoy this new addition to Naoe’s kit!

Expansion owners will also find exclusive new armor and gear through the expansion’s story and activities, featuring new appearances and powers.

Similarly, new skills and weapon abilities for both Naoe and Yasuke are available to all players.

However, legendary bo staffs—each with unique engravings—will primarily appear on Awaji Island and can be obtained by completing story missions and castles. Additional legendary bo staffs will release via the Animus Hub and Store bundles.
