Ubisoft has announced that Assassin’s Creed Shadows will receive the Claws of Awaji expansion on September 16.
In case you missed it, here’s a description of the expansion:
Journey to a new region, the island of Awaji, a place of mysterious beauty. Recover a lost historical treasure while avoiding traps and ambushes from new lethal enemies. Feel the tension of being targeted by the new faction that threatens the mysterious island of Awaji. Learn to use the bo, a new weapon type for Naoe, acquire new gear, skills, and abilities, and get over 10 hours of additional content.
Additionally, the July 29 update will bring New Game+ and increase the level cap from 60 to 80. Check out all the details below (via official site).

Hello, Assassins!
We’ve just released our summer update for Assassin’s Creed Shadows! Here’s what you need to know about Assassin’s Creed Shadows in the coming months.
First of all, thank you for your incredible reactions to our latest game updates. We’re thrilled you enjoyed our special collaborations with Dead by Daylight and the addition of Critical Role’s Rufino as your Hideout ally, along with Parkour updates, Photo Mode improvements, and of course our brand-new Nightmare difficulty!
This season is all about progression. Remember these words: New. Game. Plus.
NEW GAME+
On July 29, New Game+ will be available once you complete the final story mission and the credits roll: participation will reset your story progression and target board, as well as discovered locations, but your character level, acquired gear, skill points, Knowledge rank, and precious Hideout progress will remain unchanged.
When starting New Game+, you can choose to restart from the beginning, reliving key events of the Tenshō War in Iga—or skip ahead after the prologue to when Naoe inherits the Hideout. Either way, we guarantee no basic tutorials will interrupt your second playthrough.
PROGRESSION UPDATE
We’ve raised the level cap from 60 to 80 for all players—whether in NG+ or not—and introduced new Knowledge Levels, new Mastery Ranks and Skills, plus new upgrades for all Hideout buildings including additional tiers for Heiji’s Forge. One upgrade arrives with New Game+ and another with our summer update.
Project 3 also launches on July 29: expect new features, data files, and exclusive Animus-themed rewards to collect. Remember: if you’re still working on the first two Projects, you can complete them or switch to the new Project anytime. No time pressure.
QUALITY OF LIFE IMPROVEMENT UPDATE
We’re also excited to announce another update arriving in early September, packed with highly requested community features since launch. This free update comes before Claws of Awaji and requires only one download.
This update includes:
- Clearer world map after synchronizing viewpoints (per region)
- Ability to skip time of day to dawn or dusk
- New Forge tier upgrading Epic gear to Mythic and Legendary to Artifact rarity
- Hideout updates and improvements
- Uncapped cutscene framerate (PC only)
- Additional items familiar to longtime series fans
- More bug fixes and stability improvements
