Koei Tecmo and Omega Force have revealed the key visual for the MAPPA-produced opening animation of Attack on Titan 3. The animation will not be part of the base game at launch; the official announcement says it will be implemented through a later update.

The announcement describes the project as a new opening animation commemorating the 17th anniversary of Attack on Titan. The official game account says MAPPA’s design represents the story from its beginning through its conclusion, although the opening animation’s update date and pricing details have not been announced.

Arifumi Imai is directing the opening. The listed key-visual staff also includes Manabu Akita, Ayako Suenaga, Yuna Ohama and Chika Toda. Imai previously worked on the anime series as an action animation director, storyboard artist and key animator, according to the official announcement.

The separate official Attack on Titan anime website also confirms that the key visual is for the MAPPA-produced opening animation. This makes the visual reveal more than a report from a secondary outlet, while the exact timing of the playable game update remains open.

Attack on Titan 3 is scheduled to launch on PlayStation 5 on December 10, 2026. The official Koei Tecmo America page lists the same date for Steam, Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X|S in its regional product information. A complete worldwide release matrix has not been established.

The game is being developed by Omega Force and is designed to cover the Attack on Titan story from beginning to end. For PS5 players, the opening animation is therefore a post-launch addition to track separately from the game’s December release: the key visual is public now, but the full animation will arrive later through an update.
