According to Deadline, Callina Liang, star of Steven Soderbergh’s recent supernatural thriller Presence, has landed the lead female role of Chun-Li in Legendary’s live-action Street Fighter film based on Capcom’s franchise. The actress has previously been seen in Apple TV+’s Foundation.
Legendary’s representatives declined to comment, and the film’s plot remains under wraps. One of the franchise’s most iconic characters, Chun-Li is a skilled martial artist and Interpol agent who first appeared in Street Fighter II. Liang joins a cast that includes Andrew Koji, Noah Centineo, Jason Momoa, Roman Reigns and Orville Peck. Kitao Sakurai is directing the film.
