Nicalis has announced that Cats Away, developed by Studio Saizensen, will launch digitally for PlayStation 5, Switch, and PC via Steam on July 10 in the West.
Cats Away was originally released for PlayStation 4, Switch, and PC via Steam on April 20, 2023 in Japan under the name Buccanyar. Although the Japanese version already included English text, the Western release will mark the game’s debut as a native PlayStation 5 version.

In Cats Away, players manage the crew and resources of a sailing ship during a thrilling and dangerous exploratory voyage. Pilot the vessel through combat by maneuvering into advantageous positions and issuing real-time commands to counter enemy tactics.
Between battles, dock at distant ports to upgrade weapons and equipment, meet new friends (and foes), learn new skills, and more. Complete side quests to earn treasures, level up captains and crew members, and unlock new routes to uncharted waters!
Developed by Studio Saizensen in partnership with SUCCESS Corporation, Cats Away follows the adventures of three sailor sisters named Kanna, Lilia, and Alicia. Alongside their loyal feline companions, they embark on a perilous seafaring journey involving pirate guilds, a mysterious cat-hating syndicate, ancient magic spells, and giant mutant monsters.
Cats Away features 60 distinct cat breeds with varied abilities—some excel at weapon handling, others pilot remote units, while others repair/maintain the ship or administer first aid. The three sisters also possess different strengths and weaknesses, meaning available battle commands change depending on who’s serving as ship captain.
