Kojima Productions and Line Mileage announced that screenwriter Aaron Guzikowski (Raised by Wolves) will pen a new adult animated feature film set in Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding game universe. Currently in active development, the film will present an original story unfolding within Kojima’s surreal world.

“I love the world of Death Stranding – it’s so creatively liberating, beautifully bleak and yet deeply hopeful. I’m thrilled and honored that Hideo Kojima, whose work I’ve long admired, invited me to dive into his creation and craft new stories within its rich, mind-bending universe,” said Guzikowski, whose sci-fi screenplays have been praised for their emotionally charged and philosophical depth – qualities inherent to the game’s world. “Drawing and animation have always been near and dear to my heart, so being able to play in this universe at last is a dream come true.”

It’s important to note this project isn’t the A24 film (which is already in the hands of a director), but rather the anime that had been previously announced. In other words, this will likely be a standalone film, not a series.
