Adi Shankar, known for Castlevania and Devil May Cry (both on Netflix), has acquired the rights to produce a Duke Nukem series.
In an interview with Esquire, Shankar revealed the information:
What do you have to do now?
I have video games in production. Obviously, more Devil May Cry. I’m being approached by different IPs and companies who want to work with me. I acquired the Duke Nukem rights. Not the rights for a game, but I bought them from Gearbox.
What is your vision for Duke Nukem?
It’s a middle finger to everything. When Duke Nukem blew up, a lot of people kept trying to turn it into a brand, when in fact it’s just a middle finger. Duke Nukem can’t be made by a corporation, because the moment a corporation makes Duke Nukem, it stops being Duke Nukem. I don’t plan on having anyone tell me what to do in this case.
More details are currently unknown.
