Techland is announcing the “Summer of Dying Light,” a franchise celebration in preparation for Dying Light: The Beast, launching August 22 and now available for pre-order. Both Dying Light and Dying Light 2: Stay Human are receiving new free updates today.

Dying Light: Retouched Update

A decade after its original release, the acclaimed Dying Light receives a new update that breathes new life into Harran. Dying Light: Retouched Update enhances the title’s visuals and sound effects, delivering a more immersive and entertaining experience for new players and veterans.

The main features of Dying Light: Retouched Update are:

  • Improved Graphics and Performance: Enjoy enhanced graphical textures and the new “Ultra” quality 8K shadow, plus visual upgrades to surfaces and water with extended LOD range. This update pushes the limits of the Dying Light you know—yet it’s not a simple remaster.
  • Enhanced Audio Experience: Experience a remastered soundtrack by Paweł Błaszczak, the franchise’s original composer, who meticulously recreated retro tape sound effects by re-recording original tapes. Expect new in-game music and environmental effects, plus improved reactive audio providing combat feedback.

Dying Light 2: Stay Human Summer Update Offers New Content

Techland is also releasing a summer update for Dying Light 2: Stay Human, continuing the team’s ongoing support for the title.

“We promised at least five years of support for Dying Light 2, and our fans can count on that,” commented Tymon Smektała, Franchise Director of Dying Light. “This summer, we’re going all out for our community. We’re celebrating our talented modding community with UGC Fest while delivering substantial extra content through the Dying Light 2 x Balatro: Friend of Aiden crossover.”

Dying Light 2 x Balatro: Friend of Aiden Pack

Prepare for an unexpected collaboration between Dying Light 2: Stay Human and Balatro. The Dying Light 2 x Balatro: Friend of Aiden Pack offers two new side quests and fun free items, including the Joker Charm that dynamically changes like Balatro’s essence of luck and unpredictability. When equipped, it triggers randomized effects during gameplay—channeling Balatro’s signature thrills in Villedor.

To start the quests, locate mysterious posters in the Bazaar and Fish Eye. Solve devilish puzzles testing your knowledge of Villedor to unlock the Friend of Aiden Pack containing:

  • Jimbo’s Outfit: No joking around—gear up and get to work exterminating zombies!
  • Ceremonial Dagger: More than just a Joker. Grab this dagger to prove you’re no bluffer! Boost your multiplier by defeating enemy types, performing finishers, and destroying Joker Charms.
  • Joker Charm: Which Joker will you pull? Who knows! Craft an amulet for a random gameplay effect. As in Balatro, some are more useful than others.
  • Flying Blind Paraglider: You might lose some chips, but every poker player needs an escape plan when odds turn against them.

UGC Fest: Summer in Villedor

Starting today, Dying Light 2: Stay Human’s UGC Fest launches a vibrant four-week celebration honoring community creativity and dedication. Embark on new hunts showcasing top player-made content to discover incredible talent—and earn cool rewards upon completion.

UGC Fest highlights include:

  • Community-Created Maps: Three new community maps spotlighted weekly, letting players explore the ingenuity of Dying Light‘s talented modders.
  • New Visual Mods: Experience diverse visual overhauls—including weapon skins from recent mod contests—plus event-exclusive maps!

Beyond content and community celebrations, this Dying Light 2 summer update also introduces gameplay improvements to Co-op, Tower Raid, and technical bug fixes.
