Danger-wise, zombies have always been one of Dying Light’s most traditional elements. For Dying Light: The Beast, Techland aimed to improve the creatures—not just visually—but also their behavior and sound effects. Zombies are a cornerstone of the experience, and the developer dedicated significant time and effort to make them unforgettable for players.
How did they evolve zombies to a new level?

-
- Authentic Appearance and Behavior – Zombies have been overhauled to appear more realistic and disturbing, with a heightened sense of their former humanity and a more terrifying presence.
- Enhanced Zombie Sounds – Growls, screams, and movement now convey desperate intensity, emphasizing the horror of the Infected.
- Evolved Volatiles – Their movements, obstacle navigation, and group coordination have been modified to feel more threatening and unpredictable.
- Reactive Combat and Physics – More aggressive zombie behavior, instant counter-attacks, and shorter pauses turn encounters into intense confrontations.
