Electronic Arts sees a lot of potential in adapting Apex Legends for film or TV.
EA Entertainment President Laura Miele told Variety (via VGC) that the company is “pretty motivated” to expand the franchise beyond games.
Players “don’t have all the backstory, the history, and there are just rich worlds and stories with these characters and these legends that can come to life through linear media and partnerships,” the executive said. “We’re pretty motivated to do that, and do it in a way that truly respects and upholds the brand and the franchise,” Miele added.
Miele also discussed EA’s plans for partnerships on the The Sims film, currently in production at Margot Robbie’s LuckyChap Entertainment.
“Where we are today, from a technology and innovation perspective, we are at a point where we can truly co-create content and be multipliers for each other to provide these great experiences for fans,” she said. “It will be a complete and very rewarding cycle to bring content in both linear and interactive forms simultaneously while adapting to fan expectations. When we have concrete ideas for market launches and different expressions, I believe the opportunity is ripe.”
