Sapporo has created special packaging for a Ghost of Yōtei beer to celebrate the game’s launch.

New packaging materials for Sapporo cans and bottles are now available in US stores. It’s the same Sapporo beer, but in specially designed packaging promoting the game. These packs include a QR code players can scan to unlock an in-game reward when Ghost of Yōtei releases on October 2 for PS5.

The reward is the “Hokkyokusei Amulet,” featuring Sapporo’s famous star logo. Hokkyokusei is the Japanese term for the North Star, referencing Sapporo’s tradition where the company’s original brewmaster reportedly followed the North Star to Germany to learn brewing. According to the announcement, equipping the amulet in-game gives players a “small chance” of “not consuming long-range weapon ammo.”

Sucker Punch head Brian Fleming noted that during the team’s Japan research trip, developers enjoyed “refreshing mugs of Sapporo.” Sucker Punch’s Andrew Goldfarb stated on social media: “We joked about a ‘Yotei Six Pack’ and one year later, we have the perfect partnership. I’m thrilled it came together.”

Visit the collaboration’s official website for details.
