Citroën BX 19 TRS ’87

(Available at Brand Central/Used Cars)

Citroën’s utility vehicle showcases a fresh modern design.

In 1976, Citroën restarted as part of Peugeot. This raised questions about Citroën’s new identity, and the BX was launched to provide answers, debuting at the 1982 Paris Motor Show.

The BX overflowed with unmistakably Citroën elements. It maintained the French automaker’s classic GS and CX aesthetics within an entirely modern package, featuring simple yet assertive lines. The cabin delivered comfort with ample luggage space. Legendary Bertone designer Marcello Gandini conceived the appearance.

Mechanical ingenuity was paramount. While many models shared increasing components with Peugeots, the BX featured Citroën’s signature hydropneumatic suspension. This system replaces conventional coil springs and shock absorbers with nitrogen gas and oil, enabling adjustable ride height and delivering that unique Citroën driving sensation.

Multiple engine options were available, but the presented 19 TRS is a grand tourer variant with a 1.9L gasoline engine. Though not exceptionally powerful, the lightweight aerodynamic body enables effortless long-distance touring.

The BX became a Citroën success story, enjoying a 12-year production run. This car reaffirmed Citroën’s competitiveness during an era of non-stop French automotive innovation.

Lancia Delta HF Integrale Rally Car ’92

(Available at Brand Central)

The pinnacle of Lancia’s WRC champion, winner of 6 consecutive titles.

After Group B’s departure from WRC, Lancia selected the Delta for Group A competition. Converted to four-wheel drive with a turbocharger, this high-performance model was christened HF 4WD and entered the 1987 WRC season.

The following year, the Delta HF 4WD gained bold flared fenders and evolved into the Integrale. A 16-valve cylinder head boosted engine power in 1990, but Toyota’s dominant Celica captured the Drivers’ Title from Lancia in 1990 and 1991. Thus in 1992, Lancia released what would become the Delta’s final evolution.

The new Integrale enhanced handling through reinforced body construction. Suspension revisions widened the track, requiring even larger fenders. A roof spoiler increased aerodynamic downforce while torque distribution shifted rearward for near-rear-wheel-drive dynamics.

These refinements restored the Delta’s competitive strength. Although Fiat Group policy sidelined factory efforts in 1992, Lancia partnered with satellite team Jolly Club. Drivers Juha Kankkunen, Didier Auriol, and Andrea Aghini scored eight victories across 14 rounds, securing Lancia’s sixth consecutive Constructors’ Championship.

Peugeot SUV 2008 Allure ’21

(Available at Brand Central)

Peugeot’s design language shines through in every detail of this compact SUV.

Peugeot has produced vibrant compact cars for decades, an enthusiasm now channeled into its SUV lineup. Following the successful 2013 “2008” compact SUV, Peugeot launched the evolved “SUV 2008” in 2019.

While traditional Peugeot names featured triple-digit numbers, SUV models adopt four-digit codes. The SUV 2008 shares the CMP platform with the “208” hatchback.

At 4.3 meters long, it remains compact yet projects commanding SUV presence. Headlight elements draw inspiration from lion claws and fangs, integral to Peugeot’s recent design identity.

Inside, the exclusive “3D i-Cockpit” layout features: a small-diameter flat-bottom/flat-top steering wheel; elevated digital instrumentation resembling a head-up display. This delivers sportiness and unmatched driver visibility.
