Honkai: Nexus Anima reportedly received a hands-on showcase at gamescom 2026, where Push Square author Sammy Barker tried a recent build in HoYoverse’s business area. Barker described an auto-battler built around teams of Anima creatures, with synergies and conditional status effects shaping how players approach battles. A PS5 version remains unannounced.

“Effectively, you build teams of ‘Anima’ (or little monsters) which synergise with different creatures in various different ways,” Barker wrote. According to his account, some status effects activate only when specific conditions are met, making team composition a central consideration in the reported build.

What the gamescom demo officially showed

HoYoverse announced that Honkai: Nexus Anima would make its gamescom debut with a hands-on demo running from August 26 to 30, 2026. The public showing was scheduled for booth B030 in Hall 6.1, alongside a business-area presence in Hall 4.2.

The company describes the project as a creature-collecting adventure strategy game and identified Anima collecting, world exploration and Nexus Battles as core features for visitors to experience. Barker’s preview adds more specific detail about creature synergies and status conditions, while the official announcement does not document every part of the build he encountered.

Commercial platforms and release plans remain unclear

HoYoverse confirmed PC, iOS and Android for the Evolution Test, which was described as a limited, free closed beta with a data wipe. Those platforms apply to that specific test. The earlier Nexus Bond Test was announced for PC and iOS.

The commercial platform lineup, release date and business model remain unconfirmed. The official gamescom listing currently gives the release status as “To be announced,” and no official PS5 version has been located. Barker’s statement that a PS5 version was not currently announced therefore remains the clearest platform qualification in the available coverage, while the possibility of a future port is unresolved.
