Build a Rocket Boy, the studio behind MindsEye, has reportedly begun laying off a number of employees.
According to a report by IGN (via VGC), which cites anonymous studio sources, the Edinburgh-based developer initiated a 45-day consultation process with staff today.
Under UK legislation, companies planning fewer than 20 layoffs aren’t required to start consultation. For 20-99 layoffs, consultation must begin at least 30 days before terminations take effect. However, firms planning 100 or more layoffs require at least a 45-day consultation period.
Given the consultation period Build a Rocket Boy has reportedly initiated, at least 100 of its 300 UK-based staff could be facing layoffs (the studio also has an additional 200 employees overseas).
MindsEye has suffered a notoriously troubled launch, heavily criticized for its bugs and technical issues.
