New Ghost Recon First-Person Game Confirmed by Ubisoft

Ubisoft confirmed in a shareholder meeting that it is working on a new first-person Ghost Recon game.

The news comes from a new report by Game File (via Insider Gaming). Yves Guillemot confirmed during the shareholder meeting that a new Ghost Recon game is in development.

During the meeting, Yves Guillemot discussed the success of Rainbow Six Siege as an example of the company’s expertise in live service games. “Our goal is also to strongly advance in the growing market overall by continuing to enhance the current experiences we offer – and by capitalizing on upcoming releases like The Division and Ghost Recon,” said Guillemot.

Shortly after, Ubisoft CFO Frederick Duguet responded to a question about how Ubisoft will use its Tencent investment, stating it would be “used for the future development of other major brands. So, we have… Ghost Recon is just one example, for our first-person shooter games.” He added: “And we also want to boost our live games,” like The Crew and For Honor.

In the past, the website Insider Gaming reported that the next Ghost Recon, codenamed Ovr, is set during the Fictitious Naiman War and is, as expected, in first-person – drawing heavy inspiration from the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare franchise. Images submitted to the site under the condition of not being made public showed something resembling Ready or Not.
