According to sources at Insider Gaming, a new The Lord of the Rings game has been in development for some time.
Sources close to the project told the website that the new title will be at least partially funded by the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO). This funding is reportedly worth approximately $100 million, give or take, according to the sources.
The deal has been in motion since last year and, although it hasn’t been signed yet, it is expected to be finalized “soon” and could happen as early as next week. Regarding what the game will be, sources didn’t reveal much. What was shared, however, is that it will be a third-person action game designed, in a way, to “rival Hogwarts Legacy“.
Besides ADIO, it was stated that several parties are involved in the game, including Embracer, Revenge, and other studios.
When questioned, the companies supposedly involved stated they do not comment on rumors.
