Bandai Namco has announced Once Upon A KATAMARI, the franchise’s first new KATAMARI DAMACY title in fourteen years. Preserving the series’ playful and whimsical spirit in a vibrant fantasy setting, this new entry marks the franchise’s triumphant return, more vibrant than ever.
This time, the mighty King of All Cosmos has accidentally destroyed Earth yet again. The Prince must restore the starry sky by rolling his katamari through time, collecting objects across historical periods like the Jurassic Period, Ice Age, feudal Japan, and beyond.
In Once Upon A KATAMARI, players will experience the series’ signature gameplay like never before on a time-traveling journey featuring all-new stages and a first-time competitive multiplayer mode. The franchise’s iconic soundtrack returns with new compositions, while gameplay enhancements include customization options and fun tools like a magnet that attracts nearby shiny items.
Players can control the Prince or choose among 68 cousins and relatives, all customizable with different colors and facial expressions. These customization options extend to KatamariBall, a new competitive mode where up to four players race to build the biggest katamari and trade it for points within the time limit. KatamariBall supports online multiplayer but can also be played offline against CPU opponents.
Once Upon A KATAMARI launches October 24, 2025, for PS5, Xbox Series, Switch, and PC via Steam in Standard and Deluxe (King of All Sounds) editions. As a special bonus, players with save data from Katamari Damacy REROLL or We Love Katamari REROLL+ Royal Reverie can unlock the playable Young King immediately upon release.
