Capcom has finally revealed Resident Evil Requiem during the Summer Game Fest 2025 livestream.
First, here’s what the company officially states about the title:
Revealed at Summer Game Fest 2025, Resident Evil Requiem, the ninth and most immersive main installment in the iconic Resident Evil survival horror series, will launch on February 27, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Using the RE ENGINE and leveraging the full power of modern consoles, Resident Evil Requiem achieves an unprecedented level of realism that will keep players on the edge of their seats, including intricate character details like lifelike facial expressions and skin texture—right down to realistic sweat droplets. Resident Evil Requiem returns the series to the iconic Raccoon City, home of the biological disaster that shook the world, blending deeply terrifying psychological horror with the pulse-pounding action franchise fans know and love.
Resident Evil Requiem will feature Brazilian Portuguese, Latin American Spanish, English, Japanese, French, Italian, German, European Spanish, Russian, and Mandarin voiceovers and subtitles, alongside Korean, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Arabic, and Polish subtitles.
This is just the beginning. More horrors from Resident Evil Requiem will be revealed throughout the year, including the first public demo at Gamescom 2025. A new era of survival horror begins in 2026. Do you think you can survive?
Dusk Golem Discusses Resident Evil Requiem
By now, fans are aware of Dusk Golem. The key takeaway is that they’re a reliable Resident Evil leaker, likely having some internal contacts at Capcom.
That said, Golem posted an extensive thread on X detailing rumors and dissecting trailer sequences. Here are the most intriguing points:
- Nathan Dempsy, who everyone defers to in the hallway, is the head of the FBI.
- Grace Ashcroft is the daughter of Alyssa Ashcroft, the reporter from the Resident Evil Outbreak games. Alyssa was mentioned in an RE7 file investigating disappearances in Dulvey Parish, Louisiana.
- Violent flashbacks show Alyssa investigating the hotel for an unknown reason. We see her rendered in RE Engine from this period, in a sequence that may or may not be playable (Golem speculates it might be in first-person). The scene resembles a recurring crime scene. Alyssa was investigating a cold case at the long-abandoned hotel before being murdered during her investigation. Years later, another death occurs there involving an unknown illness at the same hotel with a legacy of unsolved killings—the fifth victim of a disease they were investigating.
- Nathan mentions Alyssa died “eight years ago.” Since the game likely takes place in 2026, this places her death in 2018.
- Grace appears to have undergone surgery in the scene where she wakes up restrained.
- Someone states, “Stay close.” It’s purportedly the same voice that later says, “We have to talk quietly” in the trailer. Per Golem, this is Nicole Tompkins. In prior RE titles, she voiced Jill Valentine, Elena in RE8, and one of Dimitrescu’s daughters.
- Similarly, Jeff Schine says, “Did you see the same shit I did?!” He previously voiced Carlos and Chris.
- Capcom tends to reuse voice actors for new roles, so it’s unclear if these characters are reprising previous ones.
- The back of the villain’s head resembles a younger, RE Engine-version of Ozwell E. Spencer from Resistance. Superficially, it resembles a younger Ozwell wearing Wesker’s RE5 attire. Both characters are deceased, so this could be Capcom toying with fans.
- The plot outline: Grace, an FBI agent, is invited to Wrenwood Hotel—where her mother died. Most FBI agents are killed by a serial killer; Grace is kidnapped, subjected to experimentation, and wakes up immobilized in a hospital. This appears to kickstart her journey, hinting she’s unique and that the hotel has a history of disappearances. Golem suggests Grace may have been betrayed by an FBI insider (possibly Nathan?).
- According to Golem, Grace is a key character but not the protagonist—all evidence suggests Leon S. Kennedy is lead: “And when people see everything about Leon and Grace in RE9, I think they’ll agree this is more Leon’s game overall, though she plays a crucial role.”
