The SEScoops website may not be the most well-known, but cites sources claiming Sony is interested in acquiring the new WB Streaming and Studios unit being carved out from the rest of Warner Bros Discovery, with completion expected by mid-2026.
According to the site (via Push Square), Sony is interested in acquiring HBO Max and the company’s games, all of which will be under the helm of this new entity.
While that seems unlikely, this story coincides with a more reliable report from Variety yesterday (17th), which states that WB Games is splitting its IP under the management of two leaders: Yves Lachance will oversee Harry Potter and Game of Thrones games, while Shaun Himmerick will lead Mortal Kombat and DC games.
