Scott Pilgrim EX Announced for PS5, Launches Early 2026

Tribute Games, in collaboration with Universal Products & Experiences and creator Bryan Lee O’Malley, today unveiled Scott Pilgrim EX – a new action-packed game set in the Scott Pilgrim universe. Combining retro-inspired pixel art with chaotic four-player co-op combat, the game takes players on a wild beat ’em up adventure through a reimagined Toronto. Scott Pilgrim EX is set to launch on PC and consoles in early 2026.

Scott Pilgrim EX reimagines the beloved universe with a modern take on classic brawlers. Players step into the shoes of Scott Pilgrim, Ramona Flowers, and other star teammates to battle diverse enemies across a twisted version of Toronto overrun by demons, vegan henchmen, and robots in an epic quest to save the city.

Featuring lightning-fast combat and explosive visuals, Scott Pilgrim EX reinvents 2D brawlers for a new era, fusing high-energy action with engaging character progression. All seven playable heroes feature full move sets from the start, but players can customize their experience by upgrading attributes and equipping special items, tailoring each fighter to their playstyle.

Players will experience a brand-new story co-written by Bryan Lee O’Malley and Tribute Games’ team. They’ll unleash creative combos, wield outrageous weapons, and battle through co-op action – all set to an all-new soundtrack by Anamanaguchi. Scott Pilgrim EX delivers a bold new chapter for both longtime fans and newcomers.

Gathering key talent from across the Scott Pilgrim timeline multiverse, the Scott Pilgrim EX creative team is reassembling the band:

  • Scott Pilgrim creator Bryan Lee O’Malley is deeply involved as Creative Consultant. Collaborating closely with Tribute’s narrative and design teams, O’Malley helps shape an entirely original story expanding the Scott Pilgrim universe in bold, unexpected ways – infusing every frame, character arc and twist with his signature voice and humor.
  • Known for their explosive blend of hyper-melodic 8-bit rock, Anamanaguchi returns to their roots after scoring the acclaimed 2010 game Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game. The soundtrack will feature multiple all-new tracks specially created and curated for this Toronto adventure.
  • Iconic pixel artist Paul Robertson collaborates with Tribute’s internal team on character animation.
  • Scott Pilgrim Takes Off director and showrunner BenDavid Grabinski joins as Creative Consultant.
