Square Enix stated it is aware of the success of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and says it values turn-based RPGs.
During Square Enix’s shareholders meeting, a reporter stated they would like new Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy games to be turn-based and highlighted Expedition 33‘s success as an example.
Square Enix responded that it recognizes this trend and believes turn-based RPGs are the foundation of the company. They value the genre and plan to continue delivering similar games in the future.
Additionally, Square Enix reaffirmed its 3-year reboot plans to shareholders. The plans include:
- Shift from quantity to quality
- From April 2025 through March 2028, aim to release major titles across multiple platforms
- Following the 3-year reboot, plan to consistently launch major intellectual property titles
