The director of The Outer Worlds 2 has reacted to Microsoft’s decision to price the RPG at $80.
Brandon Adler stated in an interview that Obsidian did not set the game’s price, adding that anyone concerned about the price should take their concerns to Microsoft.
“We are a game developer. We love making games. We don’t set the prices for our games,” he told GamesRadar (via GameSpot). “Like, personally, as a game developer, I wish everybody could play my game, ’cause that’s what I want out of all of this. But as to the reasons, like, why the $79.99 price, you would honestly have to talk to the folks at Xbox.”
The Outer Worlds 2 is Microsoft’s first $80 game (R$ 400 at PS Store), but it didn’t come as a complete surprise, as Microsoft had stated it would start charging $80 for some games in 2025. Outside Xbox, Nintendo is charging $80 for Mario Kart World, while other publishers are expected to follow suit and also charge more.
The Outer Worlds 2 releases on October 29th for PS5, Xbox Series, and PC.
