Announced during Summer Game Fest, Towa and the Guardians of the Sacred Tree, the new roguelite game published by Bandai Namco Entertainment America Inc. and developed by Brownies inc., will release for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam on September 19, 2025.
Towa and the Guardians of the Sacred Tree features engaging gameplay with fast-paced action, hand-drawn characters, stunning environments, and an original soundtrack by legendary composer Hitoshi Sakimoto.
These elements come together to create a vibrant world where peaceful splendor conceals a lurking threat and bravery is the only path forward. Set in distant lands, the tranquil village of Shinju faces danger from the evil Magatsu’s quest for domination. Towa, Shinju’s shrine maiden, must unite with eight unique companions to defeat Magatsu and his minions.
Players must select two Guardians for each mission – one wields the sacred Tsurugi sword while the other bears the magical Kagura staff. Each Guardian possesses unique abilities unlockable and upgradable within dungeons or through meta-progression in Shinju Village’s central hub.
Beyond individual Guardian skills, players can discover various crafting materials to forge and enhance blades, creating distinct combat styles for each Guardian pairing. As Guardians undertake missions across different timelines, the village evolves through the years – forming unique bonds with residents while uncovering customs and stories woven into its foundation.
